Comic Strip Illustrator
The comic strip is a strong emblem of popular culture, especially in France where publications are bursting with hugely diverse creativity. A comic strip author is first and foremost someone who is curious and cultivated. Telling the story of a historical character or describing the life of a Gallic village requires research, even if it is funny ! The illustrator collaborates with the scriptwriter carrying the story. First comes the research to portray the characters, create the decors… in a word, the graphic world of the subject. Then comes the work on the storyboard to cut the project up. Production is next, passing through sketching, inking, coloring and lettering stages.
The comic strip author works in especially close collaboration with his/her publisher who helps with choices and offers advice. He/she often includes his/her work in a spirit of collection and is responsible for the promotion of the album.
