The Character Designer is also in love with drawing and practices daily. He or she has usually started with studies in the applied arts so as to build up a solid cultural and technical baggage. Particularly interested in character drawing, his or her talent is put at the service of the entertainment industry : cartoons, illustration, video games, comic strips.

Taking the brief (script) into account he/she defines the physical or even psychological aspects of animated film or video game characters. He/she also determines clothing and accessories. In this professional context, he/she collaborates with the rigger and the animator (see the job profile for 3D Designer) to ensure a character coherent down to the last detail. Creativity feeds on curiosity, and the Character Designer ensures he/she is constantly up-to-date on production in the sectors concerning him/her.

Freelance Character Designer / Director (Paris / 75)

A graduate of Brassart Tours campus and passionate about graphic design and painting, when Maël left Brassart he specialised in animated film at Gobelins. Next came a rapid succession of missions for Walt Disney, Illumination Universal, Kellogg’s… and the making of his film « The Inspector and the umbrella ».
